COMPANY

HISTORY

In 1987, Léo Campbell started selling sharpening products in Plessiville, Quebec, and Carbotech was born. Shortly thereafter, Carbotech redirected its activities toward producing parts for wood handling, planing and sorting equipment. Then in 1991, Carbotech initiated a major expansion phase. Emphasis was placed on research and development and an engineering department was established. Efforts were also directed toward human resources management and personnel training.

Having outgrown its original premises, the company relocated in 1994 to a 19,200 square foot building. It would undergo three other expansion projects before settling into the 60,000 square-foot space it occupies today. Over the years, its workforce has grown from five to 100 employees.

After the company experienced spectacular growth over a number of years, Mr. Campbell decided to sell his shares in the company in 2001, and Carbotech became a subsidiary of Produits Industriels For-Min Inc. Two years later, however, Mr. Campbell bought back the company with three partners, André Nadeau, Sylvain Magnan and Daniel Éthier.

Today Carbotech specializes in the design, fabrication and installation of wood handling and conveying equipment for sawmills and planing mills. Its market extends across North America and Europe.

Using leading edge technologies, Carbotech develops ultra-performing high-speed equipment. Over the years the company has become the uncontested leader in the fabrication of high-quality wood handling and conveying equipment.
